Sorting Mail
When you are looking at your inbox or your sent mail, you are typically looking
at it sorted by date. If you are looking for a particular message, you may find
it useful to temporarily sort it in a different fashion. Try clicking on any of
the column headings to sort by that column, or hold down the shift key and click
on the column heading to sort descending by that column.
As an example, assuming that you haven't deleted any of these productivity tips, if you click
on the subject column, you will see all of them together, since I have started
every message subject line with Productivity Tip of the Week. This is, of
course, another reason to use proper subject lines when creating
messages.
For those of you using Eudora, there are a couple of additional tips.
- You can sort on the attachments column which will show you all of the emails with attachments
- If you want to find all messages from a particular sender, click on one of the messages once so that it is highlighted, then hold down the CTRL and ALT keys and click on it again. That will put all messages from that sender together in your current screen
The ability to quickly find the email message you are looking for will make you more efficient - and more productive.
