Map Blast

There is an Internet site called Map Blast at www.mapblast.com for maps and driving directions.

Some of you may already be aware of this web site, we use it and find it extremely valuable.  You now have to create a login name, but there is no cost involved.

Indicate the country (either Canada or U.S.) and enter the postal code or zip code and ask for a map.  You can then zoom in or out depending on the detail you require.  You can download the map or print it.

You can also get driving instructions, although currently only for the U.S.  I recently had to get directions from one location in New York State to another about 2 hours away out in the country.  The instructions were incredibly detailed and accurate, and took me right from door to door.  To give you an idea of the detail, the first instruction was to turn right out of the driveway, and proceed 400 feet to a stop sign.  Highway signs were detailed so exactly it was almost hard to believe.

Give it a try, and keep in mind that, in the not so distant future, you'll probably be using a GPS in your car to do the same thing.  It's available right now with software for a palm pilot and built in audio etc.
